MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, a non-invasive diagnostic procedure that uses magnetic fields and radio frequencies to generate detailed anatomical and functional images. MRI scans have an advantage over some forms of scanning because they can image different types of organ tissue without ionizing radiation. MRI exams are among the most accurate and advanced medical imaging procedures offered today. The images produced are much clearer and more detailed than X-rays—helping your doctor give you a better, earlier and more complete diagnosis.
What is Open MRI?
Our Open MRI system makes it possible for you to come to a facility where you can be examined without the concern of being placed in a narrow tube for an extended period of time – that’s why it’s called Open MRI. This advanced MRI system is ideal for pediatric, elderly, claustrophobic, anxious or larger patients, and those uncomfortable in a closed MRI system.
Benefits of Open MRI
Open MRI combines superior diagnostic performance with the comfort of an open environment and incorporates advanced gradient, radio frequency and computer technology which delivers images with the diagnostic clarity that physicians need. As the only open MRI facility in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, we offer physicians the latest enhancements in MRIs, facilitating fast and accurate patient diagnosis.
Our open MRI system has patient-focused features that significantly improve patient safety and comfort to accommodate a wider range of patients who need to undergo a MRI exam. Claustrophobic and larger patients are now able to be imaged because the completely open sides of the MRI bore provide a less restricted feeling which helps relieve any anxiety caused by claustrophobia. The open sides also allow us to comfortably scan patients of larger frame, weighing up to 450 pounds.
